I'm sorry to respond just now. I was already asleep when you sent the message.

[The buzz of Kainé's phone in her hand causes her to startle awake, the device slipping from her grip and dropping to the floor. Her eyes dart around on high alert until she looks down and sees the notification that she got a text from Ayaka. She scrambles to pick it up and reply.]

It's fine. It's not like I stayed up all night as a fucking tangled ball of anxiety. [Spoiler alert: she did.] You can cut the apologies though. I'm fine.

[She found others to pester.

Anyway... back on topic.]

[After each text, there's a bit of a pause as though Kainé is still trying to fight through her own fluster.]
